About

About

Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at Stanford University (Class of 2029) with interests in robotics, biomechanics, and materials.

Since 2025, I’ve been a member of the Stanford Solar Car Project (SSCP), where I design, test, and manufacture composite components and coordinate with sponsors to source materials. Before Stanford, I conducted bioengineering research developing a biofeedback system for stroke patients. This winter, I’m joining the Collaborative Haptics and Robotics in Medicine (CHARM) Lab.

Beyond engineering, I wrote business research papers for DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) that twice qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC). These experiences have shaped how I approach problems, combining technical work with clear communication, collaboration, and an eye for how projects come together as a whole.

Stanford Solar Car Project

Mechanical Team Member (Sep 2025–Present)

Stanford, California

Run 4-point bend tests on carbon fiber weaves, honeycomb panels, and ply orientations to choose layups for the car, finding configurations that more than doubled peak strength for only a small increase in weight. Manufacture trailing edge components using 3D-printed molds and vacuum infusion.

Diagnosed poor resin saturation in early infusion runs and reworked the process to work outdoors with limited resin. Currently developing chassis concepts and materials for the 2027 car, coordinating with sponsor companies to source materials, and building onboarding improvements to grow team diversity and gender representation.

Stanford Solar Car Project, American Solar Challenge 2026

Race Team Member (Summer 2026)

Formula Sun Grand Prix and American Solar Challenge route

Spent the summer with the team through the American Solar Challenge instead of a traditional internship. Worked on the ground at the race, where problems come up fast and fixes have to happen under real time pressure with the whole team depending on them.

Branched out from my composites work to learn other systems on the car, especially the solar array. Also helped with race logistics, including the convoy packing lists and vehicle documentation.

George Mason University, EMPOWER Lab

Bioengineering Research Intern, ASSIP (Summer 2024)

Fairfax, Virginia

Built a biofeedback system to help stroke patients improve lower-limb propulsion while walking. Used smart glasses to display live ground reaction force data, giving patients real-time visual feedback on how hard they push off with each step. Research abstract published in the Journal of Student Scientists’ Research.
